Lament In Winter's Night are a solo project from Australia that plays an old school and vampyric form of black metal and this is a review of his 20220 album "At the Gates of The Eternal Storm" which will be re-issued on June 24th, 2022 by Hells Headbangers.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere at times as well as most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing at times along with a couple of tracks also adding in a brief use of melodic guitar solos and leads, as the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts can also be heard and the recording closes with a keyboard orientated instrumental.
Lament In Winter's Night plays a style of vampyric black metal that is very raw and lo-fi in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover vampirism, darkness, winter and ancient times.
In my opinion Lament In Winter's Night are a very great sounding raw, old school and vampyric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "What hatred Stirs On These Nights" and "As Creation Claims My Blood". 8 out of 10.
