Dommedagssalme are a 1 man band from the United Kingdom that plays a very atmospheric and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their 2012 demo "To That Which Lies Dormant" which was released by Fallen Empire Records with the songs originally being recorded in 2005.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the synths and sound effects bring elements of dark ambient to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast ambient and atmospheric black metal riffs that utilize some raw and primitive sounding elements along with melodic parts in the riffing in addition there is a brief use of clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all high pitched depressive black metal screams, while the lyrics cover dark and depressing themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Dommedagssalme are a very great sounding ambient, atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "II". RECOMMENDED BUY.
