Earth And Pillars are a band from Italy that plays a very atmospheric and Cascadian influenced form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Earth I" which was released by Avantgarde Music.
A nature orientated ambient sound starts off the album along with some drones and dark soundscapes and after a few minutes acoustic guitars are added onto the recording and on the second track the music starts adding in more of a fast and raw black metal sound while also still being very melodic and keeping the atmospheric elements of the intro.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when vocals are added into the music they are grim black metal screams that are somewhat overpowered by the guitars and the music also incorporates a great amount of programmed blast beats and the songs also bring in a good mixture of acoustic, ambient and heavy parts which is also the main focus of most of the songs and when solos and leads are utilized they are in a very raw and melodic musical direction..
Earth And Pillars plays a style of black metal that is very epic, atmospheric, raw and melodic and also brings in influences from the Cascadian bands of Northern California, Oregon, and Washington to create more of an European take on the genre, the production sound s very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Nature and Spirituality themes.
In my opinion Earth And Pillars are a very great sounding raw, melodic and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rivers" and "Tides". 8 out of 10.
