Crest Of Darkness are a band from Norway that has been featured before in this zine and plays a dark, raw and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Evil Messiah" which will be released in February by My Kingdom Music.
A very dark, melodic and atmospheric sound starts off the ep along with some high pitched and grim sounding black metal screams and the band also brings in a very old school sound but done with more of a modern production while you can still hear some of the current Norwegian style in the bands music structures along with all of the musical instruments having a powerful sound to them.
At times you can hear a bit of a death metal influence in the vocals and the solos and leads bring in even more of an melodic old school metal vibe and the band also brings in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the songs also bring in a thrash metal influence along with blast beats coming out of drums when the music speeds up and they also close the ep with a cover of Alice Cooper's "Sick Things".
Crest Of Darkness creates another dark and melodic sounding black metal recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Anti Christian themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Crest Of Darkness and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Evil Messiah" and "Abandoned By God". 8 out of 10.
