Elegos are a duo from Greece that plays a very epic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 demo "To Those Lying In The Fields Of Glory".
Classical guitars start off the demo and after a couple of minutes melodic guitar leads are added onto the recording which sets up the mood for some grim black metal screams and the first track is 8 minutes in length and also sticks to a slow and mid paced musical direction while still having a very old school feeling.
When the demo goes into the second track it starts to speedup a bit along with an early 90's style of raw black metal while the vocals also have even more of a grim and high pitched approach this time while also adding blast beats into the faster sections of the track while the slower sections utilize melodic leads and the song is only 5 minutes in length and does bring in some flutes at times.
Elegos plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic, old school and epic sounding in the true Hellenic tradition, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Ancient Battles, War and Heroism.
In my opinion Elegos are a very great sounding raw and epic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Last Remembrance Of A Dying Warrior". 8 out of 10.
