Zareg are a band from Spain that plays a raw and melodic mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Extreme Nature" which was released by Blacksteel Music in the year of 2014.
A very dark and heavy blackened death metal sound starts off the album along with some blast beats and deep growls and the music also brings in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as a great amount of melody and high pitched black metal screams and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When solos and leads are utilized they bring in even more of a dark and melodic sound to the bands musical style and the alter track bring in more of a raw and melodic style of black metal in the mid 90's tradition bringing in a good dose of the Swedish sound while still being heavily influenced by death metal and there is never a weak of soft moment to be heard anywhere on this recording.
Zareg plays a style of melodic black metal that is very fast, raw and old school sounding and they also mix in a good amount of death metal influences to create their own sound, the production sounds very dark and raw yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics which are written mostly in English along with a couple of tracks written in Spanish cover dark themes.
In my opinion Zareg are a very great sounding raw and melodic mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "No Light, no Darkness" "The Relation Of Sun And Death" and "Decadence". 8 out of 10.
