This is a review of another recording from Oranssi Pazuzu which is also in the psychedelic black metal direction and this album is called "Kosmonument" and was originally released in 2011 while the re-issue version will be released in May by 20 Buck Spin.
Avant garde and experimental sounds start off the album along with heavy riffing and psychedelic elements making their presence known a few seconds later and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are presented on the recording while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams.
When guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted yet melodic fashion while atmospheric synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and some tracks also bring in a small amount of clean guitars along with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
At times the music can get very progressive and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw black metal feeling and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast part and a touch of doom metal can be heard in some of the slower riffing while some of the tracks are all instrumental and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts.
On this recording Oranssi Pazuzu expanded on the psychedelic style of black metal while also getting more experimental and avant garde, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover cosmos and abstract themes.
In my opinion this was another great sounding recording from Oranssi Pazuzu and if you are a fan of psychedelic black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Komeetta" "Maavaltimo" "Andromeda" and "Kaaos Hallitsee". 8 out of 10.
