Sinlust are a band from France that plays an epic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Sea Black" which will be released in April by M & O Music.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile the music gets more heavy and melodic while also introducing grim black metal screams onto the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized during the faster sections of the songs it gives the music a more raw black metal feeling and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with a brief use of spoken word parts.
Tortured screams can be heard briefly in the background and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and acoustic guitars also are used a lot on most of the later songs and there is also a brief use of deep growls and clean singing is also introduced on a couple of later tracks along with a small amount of whispers.
Sinlust plays a style of black metal that is very raw and epic while also mixing in a decent amount of acoustic passages, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon a dark fantasy story.
In my opinion Sinlust are a very great sounding epic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Red Priestess" "Dawning Of the Volcano God" and "Forgotten's Master". 8 out of 10.
