Axioma are a band from Cleveland, Ohio that plays a mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Crown" which will be released on June 28th by Translation Loss Records.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing along with the vocals being mostly angry sounding black metal screams and the songs also bring in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the music along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Elements of sludge and doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs as well as the solos and leads being done in a very dark and melodic style.
A lot of modern post metal influences are also brought into the music as well as some of the songs being short instrumentals along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and as the album progresses they also bring in a cover of Massive Attack's "Angel" which also introduces clean vocals onto the recording and the music also adds in touches of death and dark metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover psychological horror and occultism themes.
In my opinion Axioma are a very great sounding mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sacred Killing Machine" "Cult of Moloch" and "Feral Deities''. 8 out of 10.
