Heron are a band from North Carolina that plays black metal with elements of progressive and doom metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 demo.
Drums range from slow, mid paced drumming with no fast playing or blast beats being present on this recording, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording, as for the saxophones they are only used on the last song to enhance the progressive elements of the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced that combine modern black metal with progressive and doom together to create a sound of their own with some melody being the riffing at times, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals range from grim sounding black metal screams to deep growls and spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover darkness and nature themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Heron are a very great sounding black metal b and with elements of doom and progressive and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Let My Body Feed The Earth". RECOMMENDED BUY.
