Embryonic Cells are a band from France that plays very aggressive and atmospheric style of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Horizon" which will be released on November 26th by Apathia Records.
Ocean sounds, synths and clean playing starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while also mixing atmospheric sounds into the heavier sections of the music and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody along with some death metal growls also being utilized at times as well as the songs also bringing in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses clean playing also makes a brief return on some of the tracks and one track also adds clear vocals onto the recording.
Embryonic Cells plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic, modern and atmospheric sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, horror, spiritual themes and the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion Embryonic Cells are a very great sounding intense, tragic and destructive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Don't Serve Your King" "Across The Mountains" and "No Boundaries". 8 out of 10.
