Cntmpt are a band from Germany that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Towards Neglect" which was released by Into Endless Chaos Records.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off before going into a heavier direction while some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style as well as well as the music also having its atmospheric moments .
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while grim yet depressive black metal vocals can also be heard in the background at times as well as adding some melodic chants into some parts of the recording along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and as the album progresses they bring in an acoustic instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction on the remaining tracks and ambient style synths are added onto the closing track.
Cntmpt plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric while using the vocals as more of an instrument which also gives the songs more originality and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion Cntmpt are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Site Of Vastness" "Fire Theurgy" and "Wyrd". 8 out of 10.
