Deeper Vileness are a duo from Texas that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a mixture of occult black metal and dark ambient and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Shadows Of Medieval Torment" which was released by Funeral Silence Productions.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later while the music also brings in a great amount of 90's influences along with the faster sections of the songs also using a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the keyboards bring in a mixture of horror movie music and dark ambient along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and they also bring in an instrumental before closing the ep with a heavier track which also introduces melodic riffing onto the recording.
On this recording Deeper Vileness plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw and old school sounding while still bringing in some of the dark ambient elements of previous releases, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism, Demonology, Left Hand Path and Darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Deeper Vileness and if you are a fan of raw occult black metal with some ambient elements, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Daemonolatria' and "Kingdom Of Ruin". 8/5 out of 10.
