Goathammer are a band from Saskatoon, Canada that plays a bestial mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Ceremony Of Morbid Destruction" which will be released in December by Hells Headbangers.
A very distorted guitar amp sound starts off the album along with some demonic vocals a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction which also introduces grim black metal screams onto the recording while the faster sections also bring in a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while bestial growls are also utilized at times along with the solos and leads also being done in a very old school and chaotic style as well as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and one track also a dds in a small amount of clean playing, rain and thunder sounds before returning back to a more brutal direction.
Goathammer plays a musical style that captures the brutality of war and bestial black/death metal while also having the rawness of 90's era black metal, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Blasphemy, Misanthropy and Desecration themes.
In my opinion Goathammer are a very great sounding bestial mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Arcane Destruction Spell" "Astral Crucifixion" and "Sempiternal Holocaust". 8/5 out of 10.
