Demenzia Mortis are a band from Belgium that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of t heir 2021 album "Anti Kult" which was released by Sounds Of Hell Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album while also adding in a brief use of Gregorian chants and ritualistic yet clear vocals along with a brief use of gunfire before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and deep death metal growls while the music is also heavily rooted in the 90's era. The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one of the tracks also introducing clean playing onto the recording and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
The riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and when spoken word parts are utilized they also give the album more of an occult atmosphere along with the solos and leads also being done in a very old school style when they are utilized as well as a later song also adding in a brief use of synths and towards the end a small amount of operatic female vocals can also b e heard. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Philosophical and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Demenzia Mortis and if you are a fan of satanic black and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Codex 666" "Dark Resolution" "Be Your Slave And Be Your master" and "My Blood Runs Black". 8 out of 10.
