Xarkrinur are a solo project from Bangladesh that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a very raw and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "Screams Of The Silent Mind".
Ambient style drones and synths start off the album before going into a heavier and lo-fi musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding depressive black metal screams along with some of the riffs also adding in a small amount of distorted sounding melodies and all of the drum beats are programmed.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while synths also return on some of the other tracks and also add in a variety of many different sounding keys. At times the riffs also get very raw sounding along with one track also adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars and the whole album also sticks to a slower direction.
On this recording Xarkrinur brings in more of a raw, lo-fi, depressive and slow style of black metal. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes..
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Xarkrinur and if you are a fan of raw and depressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wanderer" and "Screams of The Silent Mind". 8 out of 10.
