Omhosten are a solo project from Ukraine that plays a very atmospheric and old school form of black metal and this is a review of his album "Music Of The Great Beyond" which will be released in 2022 by Kult und Kaos Productions.
A very heavy sound starts off the album along with some melodic guitar solos and leads while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
The riffs also utilize a great amount of melody while the music also adds in a great amount of 90's second wave era influences. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one of the tracks also being an instrumental as well as the album also getting very atmospheric sounding at times and the album closes with a synth orientated outro.
Onhosten plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and old school sounding in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the quintessence of hatred for humanity.
In my opinion Omhosten are a very great sounding atmospheric and old school black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Will I Be Damned by All Gods" "Cold Rain Will Come" "Retaliation Might" and "Blood Red Mud". 8 out of 10.
