Labyrinthine Haze are a solo project from Sweden that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Descending Into The Deep" which was released by Humanity's Plague Productions.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while keyboards are also added into some parts of the recording. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
At times the album also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere while the songs also show some influences of both the modern and old school eras of the genre. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling along with one track also adding in a brief use of clean playing, most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Labyrinthine Haze plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric, raw and lo-fi sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Darkness and Battle themes.
In my opinion Labyrinthine Haze are a very great sounding raw, lo-fi and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Through The Haze Of The Fog" and "Embraced by Darkness". 8 out of 10.
