Hades/Again Shall Be/FullMoonProductions/1994 CD Review

Hades where a band from Norway that later changed their name to Hades Almighty that played a very raw and atmospheric form of pagan/viking/black metal and this is a review of their 1994 album "Again Shall Be" which was released by FullMoonProductions.

Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful with a good amount of primitive riffing, as for the synths when they are utilized they bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced pagan/viking/black metal riffs that are very dark, epic, raw and primitive sounding with some pagan melodies being thrown in at times, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very primal sounding pagan/viking/black metal guitar leads and solos, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized briefly they use full chords and finger picking to bring a medieval feel to the music.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some clean singing pagan/viking metal chanting as well as a brief use of a spoken word passage, while the lyrics cover Greek/Norse Paganism, Witchcraft, Darkness and Anti Christianity, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Hades where a very good raw and primitive sounding atmospheric viking/pagan/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hecate (Queen of Hades)" "The Spirit Of An Ancient Past" "Unholy Congregation" and "Be-Witched". RECOMMENDED BUY.
