Throne Of Ahaz/On Twilight Enthroned/No Fashion Records/1996 CD Review

Throne Of Ahaz where a band from Sweden that played a very atmospheric form of cold sounding black metal and this is a review of their 1996 album "On Twilight Enthroned" which was released by No Fashion Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown in at times along with some occasional percussion, while the keyboards when they are utilized bring a very dark and atmospheric feel to the music without being to overdone, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark and primal sounding with some dark sounding melodies being thrown in at times as well as an early 80's black/thrash feeling being used on one song in addition there is some dark doomy riffing being used on a cover song while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very dark and melodic sounding black metal guitar leads that do not turn into solos.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics touch on darkness, coldness and Norse Paganism, as for the production it has a very heavy, powerful, cold and dark sound to it without taking away from the raw and primitive approach of the music.

In my opinion Throne Of Ahaz where a very cold sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fenris" "Where Veils Of Grief Are Dancing Slow" and "Blackthorn Crown". RECOMMENDED BUY.
