Grom/Pagan War Machine/Vinland Winds/Hakenkreuz/2001 CD Review

Grom are a band from New York that plays a very raw, brutal, and primitive form of ns/pagan/black metal and this is a review of their 2001 album "Pagan War Machine" which was released as a joint effort between Vinland Winds and Hakenkreuz.

Drums range from slow, mid paced, to fast drumming with some occasional blast beats, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful tone with primitive riffs that combine influenced from both thrash and black metal.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast ns pagan/black metal riffs that also utilize some thrash influences while the lead guitars are very distorted sounding guitar solos and leads, as for the classical guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords to bring a very dark and medieval sound to the music.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with some deep growls being thrown in at times as well as some samples in addition there is a brief use of a spoken word passage, while the lyrics cover Norse/Celtic Paganism and  Antisemitism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Grom are a very good ns/pagan/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pagan Flames" and "The Shores Of Avalon". RECOMMENDED BUY.
