Dim Aura are a band from Israel that plays a very raw and depressive form of black metal with elements of punk and rock music and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "The Negation Of Existence".
The music starts off with a slow and depressive black metal sound before speeding up and going for a more raw direction along with some blast beats and high pitched screams which also bring an old school feeling to the recording and after awhile they bring in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the vocals adding in small amounts of growls.
One of the main strengths of the album is the old school aspect of the black metal sound of the band and there ability they add a depressive edge to it and when the music gets more up beat you can also hear some rock music and punk elements while the main focus is on playing raw black metal and at times the vocals use some death metal influences.
As the album progresses you can hear more first wave black metal elements and powerful sounding bass guitars being mixed in with their sound and they bring in a more punk rock energy to the black metal sound which is mostly rooted in the early to mid 90's era while also having some early 2000's depressive elements.
Dim Aura have a sound on this recording that mixes a lot of many different black metal styles together and if you can hear everything from raw black metal, black'n'roll and dsbm all being mixed in the sound and the music is very true to black metal along with a raw, heavy and old school production and lyrics that cover misanthropy and hatred themes.
In my opinion Dim Aura are a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gods Of The Undying Darkness" "Rec 17-5" and "Black Metal Genocide". 8 out of 10.
