Cloak Of Altering are a 1 man band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of atmospheric occult black metal, noise and industrial and this is a review of his 2014 album "Plague Beasts" which will be released by Crucial Blast.
Gabber style sounds start off the album before going into a fast and raw industrial black metal direction along with some grim screams and the music also alternates between slow and fast parts to give the industrial sound s more power and you can also hear spoken word parts in the background along with some deep demonic growls being utilized at times.
Elements of harsh noise are added into the music at times while never losing its black metal focus, and the album well also mix some raw black metal elements with the more symphonic side of the genre while also bring in video game music sounds which also make the album a lot more avant garde and experimental and as time goes on by elements of prog rock and classical are added onto the recording along with a variety of many different styles of vocals while remaining true to more more necro industrial black metal direction throughout the tracks on the recording.
Cloak Of Altering have a very original sound on these songs taking the occult, raw and symphonic forms of black metal and mixing them with necro industrial, experimental and noise to create an interesting recording along with a very powerful sounding production and lyrics that cover Satanism, Chaos Magick, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Cloak Of Altering are a very great sounding mixture of black metal, industrial, experimental, noise and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should c heck out t his project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Plague beasts" "Chaos Magician Of the Abyss" and "Into Celestial hell". 8 out of 10.
