Telchine are a band the United States that has been featured before in this zine with a musical style I would describe as being a raw and depressive form of pagan black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Beast Messiah".
A very fast, raw and old school sound starts off the album along with some blast beats and on the following tracks more slow and mid paced parts are mixed onto the album with the faster elements and it brings an atmospheric feeling to the recording.
Most of the songs are very short and the vocals that are utilized on the recording are mostly mixed down low in the background to give the music a grim feeling while the drums and guitars are the main focus of the recording and you can also hear some melody being added into some of the tracks along with a mixture of both slow and fast songs with the slower being in the depressive direction and on the later tracks more epic pagan elements are added into the music and some of the faster songs have an almost war metal feeling to them at times.
Telchine show a good amount of diversity with this recording with the way they bring in some very fast and raw old school black metal tracks along with slower songs that show the depressive side of the band and in both the fast and slow songs the pagan metal elements really dominate, the production is very raw and old school in the true black metal tradition while the song themes cover Paganism and War.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Telchine and if you are a fan of raw and depressive pagan black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Punisher" "Sacrifice" "Regress" and "Future". 8 out of 10.
