Paramnesia are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2014 album which will be released by Les Acteurs de l'Ombre Productions.
A dark ambient/drone sound starts off the album along with some clean parts and after a couple of minutes the music goes into a black metal direction combining the fast and raw parts with the more slow and atmospheric side of the genre along with some high pitched depressive screams and the band also brings in a great amount of brutal blast beats in the faster sections of the recording and the songs follow the concept of the last 2 releases with the song titles beng IV and 5 on the album.
When clean guitars are added on the album they enhance the melancholic side of the music and make the heavier parts sound even more suicidal an d the band also takes Cascadian black metal elements strips all of the post traces of the genre and make it sound even more dark and grim and the second track is a bit more progressive than the first one while also remaining true to a raw and atmospheric black metal sound..
Paramnesia continuing their atmospheric black metal sound of previous releases while also remaining raw and heavy along with a very dark and heavy sounding production and lyrics that cover darkness as well as following the concept of previous recordings and both tracks are a very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Paramnesia and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "V". 8/5 out of 10.
