Drabataturk are a band from Russia that plays a folk influenced form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2021 album which was released by Pesttanz Klangschmiede.
Grim black metal screams start off the album along with some heavier riffing a few seconds later. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals also get very high pitched sounding at times and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The album also has its atmospheric moments along with the songs also adding in a decent amount of melody and 90's influences as well as some touches of folk music also being mixed in with the heavier sections of the tracks, synths can also be heard at times and as the album progresses a small amount of acoustic guitars can also be heard on a few tracks.
Drabataturk plays a style of folk influenced black metal that is more aggressive than most bands of this genre, The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Paganism and Fantasy themes.
In my opinion Drabataturk are a very great sounding folk influenced black metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rise of Drabataturk" "Goblin's Dance" and "Throne". 8 out of 10.
