Forbidden Tomb are a solo project from Indonesia that plays a very cold and raw form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "The Prospector" which was released by Morbid Chapel Records.
A very dark and atmospheric sound starts off the album along with a brief use of synths before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the songs also add in a decent amount of 90's influences.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while growls can also be heard in some parts of the album. A small amount of dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the riffing along with the album also adding in a couple of interludes, whispered vocals can also be heard in certain sections of the album.
Forbidden Tomb plays a style of black metal that is very raw and cold sounding. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover darkness and death themes.
In my opinion Forbidden Tomb are a very great sounding raw and old black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Crypt I" and "Crypt V". 8 out of 10.
