Nocturnal Wanderer are a solo project from the Pacific Northwest area of the United States that plays a very traditional form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "Gift of The Night" which will be released in September by Altare Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams as well as the riffs also adding in some dark sounding melodies.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. The songs also add in a good amount of 90's influences along with a couple of the tracks also adding in a brief use of acoustic guitars as well as some spoken word parts also being added on the closing song.
Nocturnal Wanderer plays a style of black metal that is very traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, night, solitude and nocturnal creatures.
In my opinion Nocturnal Wanderer are a very great sounding traditional black metal solos project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Twilight Befell" and "The Amberdawn". 8 out of 10.
