Sermon Of Flames are a duo from Ireland that plays a mixture of black, death metal, harsh noise and death industrial and this is a review of their 2021 album "I Have Seen The Light, And It Was Repulsive" which will be released in September by Transcending Obscurity Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds alter while harsh noises are also utilized at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Guttural and cavernous death metal growls are also a very huge part of the recording while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Elements of death industrial are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with a great portion of the tracks also being very short in length as well as the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody and as the album progresses spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Sermon Of Flames plays a musical style that takes raw black, brutal death metal, harsh noise and death industrial and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the curse of life and the rejection of faith.
In my opinion Sermon Of Flames are a very great sounding mixture of black, death metal, harsh noise and death industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cauldrons Of Boiling Piss" "Vacouus_Disjointed" "Vehemence" and "Dancer Of The 6 Agonies". 8 out of 10.
