Prieuré are a solo project from France that plays a very raw, melodic, technical and dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 ep "La foi des Bourreaux" which was released by Vetus Capra Productions.
Raw tremolo picking starts off the ep before going into a very fast musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while a small amount of dissonant structures are also added into some of the riffing. When guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very technical style as well as all of the drum beats also being programmed and towards the end a brief use of folk music elements can also be heard.
Prieuré plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic, technical and dissonant sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Prieuré are a very great sounding raw, melodic, technical and dissonant black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "La foi des Bourreaux" and "Sans virage". 8 out of 10.
