Blasphemous Blessings are a band from Ohio that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 album "In Darkness I Endure".
Thunder sounds start off the album along with a brief use of whispers before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. A lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave era and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Death metal growls can also be heard in some parts of the recording while some of the riffing also shows an influence of thrash metal. Synths and spoken word parts can also be heard on a few tracks along with a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to then as well as one of the songs also introducing clean playing onto the album and an instrumental can also be heard towards the end. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, war, heathendom, occultism and darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Blasphemous Blessings and if you are a fan of old school black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Storm The gates" and "Bringer Of Light". 8 out of 10.
