Romania's Ordinul Negru have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of an occult style of black metal and this is a review of t heir 2021 ep "A Sojourner Wandering Through The Barren Openness" which will be released on November 26th by Loud Rage Music.
Atmospheric sounding keyboards start off the ep along with some heavier riffing a few seconds later while the only track present on this recording is over 22 minutes in length. The riffs also add in a great amount of melody as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some spoken word parts also being utilized briefly.
When clean vocals are utilized they also give the music more of an avant garde feeling along with the music also having its progressive moments. At times the riffs also get very technical sounding as well as some female vocals also being utilized briefly and as the song progresses a small amount of clean playing be heard. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the birth of the earth and it's ancestral truth's.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ordinual negru and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10.
