Infernal Storm Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?

We are a black metal band from Kozani, Greece. I, Tzoukopoulos A. started writing and composing in April 2020, and after a year or so he brought John Seviloglou in for the vocal duties and Makis Kavoukas behind the heyboards. After that, we together started preparations for the debut EP.

2.Recently you have released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

There wasn't a certain musical style that we wanted to approach with the EP, we all just like black metal and the ideas just kept coming. We all brought our own ideas on the table and the whole thing started taking shape afterwards.

3.Some of your lyrics cover Occult themes, can you tell us a little bti more about your interest in this topic?

The lyrics are entirely influenced by some personal experiences, and came together in a metaphorical way, just like the band name and the artwork.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Infernal Storm'?

Like I said, in the midst of those personal endeavors the only name that made sense and clinged to me was Infernal Storm, it does kinda sum up the way I felt during that time in my life.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

The artwork as well is deeply or even entirely influenced by the trials I experienced then, with a metaphorical and a more dark and morbid if you may flavor to it applied by Manuel Scapinello, who did an absolutely stunning work and we thank him deeply.

6.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

Due to the pandemic situation we couldn't bring in new members that easily and decided to proceed with the two of us (Me and John), and Makis of course. We are slowly starting to try out new members for the remaining tasks in the band that are yet to be filled (guitars and bass) for the following recordings and live shows when the time is right of course.

7.The ep was released on 'Askio Productions', how did you get in contact with this label?

We sent many promo tracks to quite a few labels and production companies and the guys from Askio Productions were instantly eager to help us with the release of the EP's physical copies that are now available on cassette.

8.On a worldwide level how had the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

Truth is, the feedback was greater than we expected, from both friends and random listeners that came across our work and we are stunned by the outcome and the nice words that everyone has shared with us until now.

9.The band is from Greece a country that has plenty well known black metal band, what is it that you feel makes you stand out musically in your own country?

We couldn't say that we stand out due to the fact that there are so many more bands in the genre with numerous years of experience. We are from a small city that there are not many or even any black metal bands and that's the main reason that makes us stand out here for the time being.

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We are in the phase of pre-production for two new songs currently which will be included in the album that we are not quite sure yet when it will come out. Musically, the extreme sound will remain, and we believe that it will turn out to be faster, heavier, more aggressive and more atmospheric.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Surely a great influence were bands from the Greek scene like Rotting Christ, Lucifer's Child, Necromantia, etc. That also includes band like Emperor, Dissection and many more. I am currently listening to Necromantia, also Yoth Iria and Gaerea and John listens more to metalcore and melodic death metal bands these days.

12.before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you very much for this interview, stay safe and check out our debut EP "On Thorns Ov Hell" streaming now via the Symphonic Black Metal Promotion and Total Darkness Promotion channels on YouTube and also from our Bandcamp profile.
