Quebec, Canada's Hak-Ed Damm have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of a fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Destructio Purificalis" which will be released in October by Black Market Metal Label.
War samples start off the album before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as some angry growls and shouts also being utilized at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. The music also adds in a great amount of 90's influences but also keeps it modern at the same time and the tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and as the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals can also be heard as well as a couple of the songs also being very long and epic in length along with all of the music also sticking to a heavier direction. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in French and cover war, death and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Hak-Ed Damm and if you are a fan of fast and aggressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chaos Planetaire" "La Clan des Cannibales" and "L'Ultime ogive". 8 out of 10.
