Aristarchos are a band from Scotland that plays an atmospheric form of occult black metal and this is a review of their self released 2021 album which was released by Vendetta Records.
Atmospheric and ritualistic soundscapes start off the album while synths are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dark yet melodic style when they are utilized.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard while the album also has its dissonant moments. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the tremolo picking also giving the music more of a raw feeling when it is utilized and the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a good amount of dark sounding melodies as well as some clear vocals also being utilized on a few songs. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Darkness and Cosmos themes.
In my opinion Aristarchos are a very great sounding atmospheric occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ascension II - He, I & We Who Hath Traveled And Doth Avow" and "Ascension V - As Symphonies Of Ancients In Beseechment, Accept This Offering To The Abyss". 8/5 out of 10.
