Antichrist Siege Machine are a band from Richmond, Virginia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Purifying Blade" which will be released in October by Profound Lore Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album along with some spoken word samples before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style while the music also shows some influences of both the Canadian and Australian styles of the genre. A small amount of dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as the album progresses a brief apocalyptic sounding intro can also be heard before returning back to more of a raw and brutal musical direction.
On this recording Antichrist Siege Machine remains true to the bestial mixture of war, black and death metal that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Warfare and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Antichrist Siege Machine and if you are a fan of war and bestial black/death emtal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Carried Into Darkness" "Victorious Legions Of Satan" "Defiled Into Iniquity" and "The Inevitable Penalty". 8 out of 10.
