Amen Corner are a band from Brazil that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 1995 album "Jachol Ve Tehilá" which will b e re-issued in November of 2021 with 3 bonus tracks by Nomad Snakepit Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some synths a few seconds later before introducing some clean playing onto the recording. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and when the music goes into a heavier direction angry sounding black metal screams are added into songs.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some of the riffs also adding in elements of thrash metal as well as the music also being heavily influenced by both the first and second wave era's.
Spoken word parts can also be heard on a couple of tracks along with the slower sections of the songs also adding in a touch of doom metal as well as the vocals also mixing in more of a death metal approach at times, clean playing also makes a brief return as the album progresses and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast b eats can b e heard. The production sounds very raw and old school while t he lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian, Occultism and Paganism themes.
In my opinion Amen Corner are a very great sounding old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Seventy Seven Guardians" "The Cult Of The Pagan Gods" "Zigurates Baal" and "On The Throne With Lucifer". 8 out of 10.
