Zaqqoem are a duo from the Netherlands that plays a very abhorrent and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2021 ep "Anarchic Rapture Of Withering" which was released by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
Dark soundscapes start off the ep which also gives the music the atmosphere of a classic horror movie while spoken word parts can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements can also be heard.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the closing track is long and epic in length along with a small amount of dark sounding melodies also being added into some of the guitar riffing.
Zaqqoem plays a musical style that takes, black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover total ruin and oblivion themes.
In my opinion Zaqqoem are a very great sounding abhorrent and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Desist". 8 out of 10.
