Poland's Kly has returned with a new recording which shows them going for more of a post black metal style with some avant garde and cold wave elements and this is a review of their 2021 album "Chen" which was released by Pagan Records.
Field recordings start off the album along with some keyboards a few seconds later while whispers can also be heard on a few tracks before going into a heavier musical direction. All of the instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as some melodies also being added into some of the guitar riffing.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the solos and leads are done in a very dark yet melodic post metal style. Avant garde sounds are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and touches of cold wave can also be heard at times.
Clean playing is also added into some parts of the album along with one song also introducing spoken word parts onto the recording as well as all of the music sticking to either a slow or mid tempo direction, acoustic guitars can also be heard on the closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover Contemplation of Reality themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Kly and if you are a f an of avant garde post black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bezslowie" and "Wnikad". 8 out of 10.
