France's Otargos has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more a cosmic style of blackened death metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Fleshborer Soulflayer" which will be released in December by Xenoxorp.
Sci-fi orientated soundscapes start off the album along with some cinematic and symphonic elements before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style as well as going into more of a dark yet melodic style on later tracks while melody is also added in some of the guitar riffing. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the sci-fi sounds also making a return on some of the later songs , tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing.
On this recording Otargos goes for more of a brutal and cosmic style of blackened death metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Quantum psychics and Technology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Otargos and if you are a fan of cosmic and blackened death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Incursion Of Chaos" "Fleshborer soulflayer" and "Sentinel". 8 out of 10.
