1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We are Lichtblick, a four headed depressive black metal band form Austria.
2.So far you have released an ep and a full lengh, musically how do they both differ from each other?
The main difference between the EP and the album is the band line-up. Currently we are four people and we recorded our album with this line-up. The music is also a little different because of the influence of the “new” members. We became a little more advanced in general and found our own sound.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
Our lyrics are about depression, suicide, fear and anxiety as well as substance abuse.
4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Lichtblick'?
The name “Lichtblick” has two meanings for us. The first one is the light you see at the end of the tunnel shortly before you die; the second meaning is the hope that life will always end no matter how dreadful it gets.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?
We took the pictures ourselves and we wanted each image to reflect the atmosphere and the meaning of each song. The album cover should represent insanity and the edge of death and suicide.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
The best show we played so far was a gig in Vienna with Urfaust and Schammasch. Our stage performance is very intense for us. We try to lose ourselves in the music and try to achieve a trance like and meditative state. We hope that our listeners feel the same
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Yes, we have some upcoming shows in the pipeline and are working on plans for a tour at the end of the year.
8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
We have received interest but currently we aren’t really looking for a label.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of depressive black metal?
We have sold copies of our album worldwide. The people who are into the genre seem to enjoy our music.
10.When can we expect new music and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We are currently working on new stuff, but concentrate more on life performances right now. We will stick to DSBM.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are yuo listening to nowadays?
Classic depressive black metal bands like Austere, Nocturnal Depression, Psychonaut 4 and Total Selfhatred have a big influence on us. But bands like Agalloch, Fen, Alcest, Low, Lantlos and The XX also play a big role for us
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
We all work and making music together is our passion. Every one of us tries to distract themselves from life.
13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Feel free to lose your life
