Oculus Of Profanations are a band from Texas that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 demo "Hymns Of The wrthing Oblivion".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the demo along with some melodic riffing while all of the songs are recorded live. Elements of death metal can also be heard in the guitar riffs and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. On the second and 3rd tracks all of the music is instrumental while also being very aggressive at the same time and displaying the talent of the musicians.
Oculus Of Profanations plays a style of black metal on the 3 tracks that are very raw and traditional sounding while also showing a good amount of death metal influences. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi along with all of the tracks being recorded live while the lyrics cover darkness and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Oculus Of Profanations are a very great sounding raw black metal band with a touch of death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Cold Unholy Scorn". 8 out of 10.
