Aethyrick are a band from Finland that plays a very melodic and satanic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Praxis" which was released by The Sinister Flame.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Synths are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the music at times while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. A couple of the tracks are long and epic in length as well as the riffs also bringing in a great amount of melody and the music also captures the classic Finnish style of the mid 90's along with a more modern and atmospheric take on the song structures.
As the album progresses an instrumental is added onto the recording along with a brief use of rain and thunder sounds while later tracks also display a lot more diversity, The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Mysticism themes.
In my opinion Aethyrick are a very great sounding atmospheric, melodic and satanic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Protectress" "Pilgrimage" and "Totems". 8 out of 10.
