Fiat Noctum are a duo from Sweden that plays a very traditional and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 album "Fran Forna Minnen".
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. A great amount of dark sounding melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing at times while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's as well as the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very raw and melodic style along with a couple of the tracks being long and epic in length as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
Fiat Noctum plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the 90's tradition while also having its melodic moments. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Swedish and English and cover Occultism, Darkness, Death and Suffering themes.
In my opinion Fiat Noctum are a very great sounding traditional and old school black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dar Skymning Radar" and "Of Human Flesh And Devils Blood". 8 out of 10.
