Rainer Landfermann is a solo artist from Germany that plays a very progressive and avant garde form of depressive black metal and this is a review of his self released 2019 album "Mein Wort In Deiner Dunkleheit".
Stringed instruments start off the album and give the music an avant garde feeling along with the clean guitars adding in a touch of jazz. Vocals are mostly depressive and suicidal black metal screams while also adding in some grim whispers and melodic choirs are also used at times.
Pianos are also brought into some of the songs while the music also gets very experimental at times. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the riffs also mixing heavy and progressive parts together and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
Spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Keyboards are also added into some parts of the music while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody at times. The production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics are written in German and cover depressive themes.
In my opinion Rainer Landfermann is a very great sounding avant garde and progressive depressive black metal solo project and if you are looking for something that is very original, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Langsam, hinters Licht" "Wir fehlen alle" "Hingabe" and "Mein Wort In Deiner Dunkleheit". 8 out of 10.
