Nebula Orionis are a solo project from Russia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays an instrumental cosmic and cinematic mixture of atmospheric post black metal and ambient and this is a review of his 2019 album "To Keep The Flame Burning" which will be released in June as a joint effort between Casus Belli Musica and Beverina.
Ambient style synths start off the album along with the music also capturing a very cosmic and cinematic atmosphere. Programmed beats can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and all of the music is instrumental.
Elements of post black metal can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the music is mostly dominated by synths and the songs go for more of a symphonic and atmospheric approach to the genre as well as some guitar riffing also being brought into some parts of the music and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
On this recording Nebula Orionis remains true to the cosmic and cinematic mixture of atmospheric post black metal and ambient from his previous release while also keeping everything instrumental and the production sounds very professional.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nebula Orionis and if you are a fan of instrumental atmospheric post black metal, cinematic music and ambient, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "To Keep The Flame Burning" and "Transmission". 8 out of 10.
