Marcia Funebre are a band from Greece that plays a Greek style of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 album which was released by Heathen Tribes.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some acoustic guitars a few seconds alter before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals alternate between deep growls and grim black metal screams.
A great amount of 90's influences can also be heard on the bands musical style while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the sounds of middle age war battles also being used briefly.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of the tracks being long and epic in length. A couple of tracks also introduces clean playing onto the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of keyboards can also be heard on a couple of songs. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Darkness and Human Condition themes.
In my opinion Marcia Funebre are a very great sounding Greek black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "All Dead Shall Be" "Apokalypsis" and "A Path To the Unknown". 8 out of 10.
