Umbra Interview

.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1.I guess you could say I started the band in a revolt against modern black metal, everything is commodified, boring, played out or genre bended (black gaze).

2.So far you have released a couple of ep's and a full length, musically how do they both differ from each other?
2.Crypt of scorn was written and recorded super fast (about 3 hours total) and was an experiment in how lo fo and obtuse it could be. UC was written and rehearsed for a few months and taken into a small studio and is more focused.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with your music?
3.might is right, natures struggle and the emptiness of the easy modern world.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Umbra'?
4.It is Latin for shadow, it’s use is taken from abruptums first album

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
5.Its a crucified dog displayed in a parade, it’s a scene from the movie “holy mountain”
To me it’s to hold up what is naked and grotesque, not to hide the nature of death.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6.There are no live shows

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
7.Not even one

8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
8.I actually started my own label recently “Imperial Crypt” which is what the cd is on, I’m currently looking for bands that make unique and powerful bm.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
9.Sometimes it’s confusion or misunderstanding, but also respect for its uncompromising hatred.

10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

10.There is only Umbra

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

10.There is only Umbra

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
12.Burzum, Hellhammer, mayhem, hellveto(now neoheresy) Bathory, infester, (early) Cryptopsy are at the front, and many non metal artist.
