Pestis Inferos are a band from Syracuse, New York that plays a very old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 ep "Beyond the Veil Of Light" which will be released in June.
Ritualistic bell sounds start off the ep along with a brief use of children singing before going into a heavier musical direction. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. A great amount of 90's influences can also be heard in the bands musical style while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, demonic voices can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and all of the instruments have a very powerful sound to them and synths can also be heard briefly on the closing track.
Pestis Infernos plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Pestis Inferos are a very great sounding old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "From throne To Funeral" and "Poison Falling Star". 8 out of 10.
