BlackStream are a duo from Italy that plays an experimental form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2020 demo "Digital Perversion".
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the demo along with some demonic voices a few seconds later while the music also brings in elements of experimental, industrial and noise. Programmed beats can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording as well as the vocals also adding in a great amount of grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
Evil sounding growls are also a very huge part of the demo while the faster sections of the music also captures the raw aggression of old school black metal without the use of any traditional metal instruments. All of the tracks sound very different from each other along with some harsh noises and power electronics also being utilized at times, keyboards can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
BlackStream plays a musical style that takes occult black metal, ritual, noise, industrial and experimental and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover Occultism, Black Magick and Nihilism themes.
In my opinion BlackStream are a very great sounding experimental and occult black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Digital Megiddo" and "Lilith's Realm Stream Is Black (Intermezzo)". 8 out of 10.
